Hatred, Persecution and Prejudice

Due to the political climate in our country and the world today, the need for this message is the strongest it has been in decades, maybe even since before the Civil War.
Hatred due to political party, prejudice and/or racism leads to brutality, violence and even more hate. This is evidenced by the events at Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Washington University in St. Louis, MO; New York City; Baltimore, MD; Charleston, SC; and now with the assassination attempts on our lawmakers at Alexandria, Virginia. It's a growing epidemic which needs to be, and must be stopped immediately. Hate only begets hate. God has instructed us how to live, so why can't we abide by His wishes? Why do we have to be so barbaric in the treatment of our fellow man? Ask yourself these questions again after reading God's instructions below and reflect on it's content.

Leviticus 19:17-18 (NKJV)
'You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor and not bear sin because of him.
'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

Proverbs 15:17 (NKJV)
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, Than a fatted calf with hatred.

Matthew 5:43-45 (NKJV)
"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
"But I say to you, love yor emenies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,"
"that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust,

John 15:18-24 (NKJV)
"If the world hates you, you know that it hates Me before it hates you.
"If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
"Remember the word that I said , "A servant is not greater that his master," If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, than will keep yours also.
"But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
He who hates Me hates My Father also.
"If I had not done among the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

Acts 15:5 - 11 (NKJV)
But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up saying, "it is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses."
Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter.
And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: "Men and brethren, God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.
"So God, who knows the heart, acknowledges them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us,
"and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
"Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
"But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they."

2 Corinthians 7:2 - 3 (NKJV)
Open your hearts to us. We have wrong no one, whe have corrupted No one, we have cheated no one.
I do not say this to condemn; for I have said before that you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together.

Galatians 3:28 - 29 (NKJV)
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

1 John 2:9 - 11 (NKJV)
He who says he is in the light and hates is brother, is in darkness until now.
He who loves his brother abides in the light, and thers is no cause for stumbling in him.
But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

James 2:1 - 4 (NKJV)
My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.
For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes,
and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "you sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "you stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool,"
have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

For those who freely and openly welcome the merciful gift of Salvation and a relationship with Jesus, there is hope! Simply accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then hold on because you won't believe what happens next!
Here's some things to ponder, one cannot fall so low that God cannot reach down and lift you out! Also, wouldn't you rather believe in God then learn He doesn't exist than not believe only to discover He does?
